Saturday we had a light covering of snow - the first in probably eight or so years and maybe the last for that many years so we had to get James out for just a bit to take some pictures. He really wasn't overly impressed with the snow - but we had fun!
Our winter snow outfit - so cute - we put shoes on him for the first time so he could stand in the snow-
James loves his daddy - too sweet -

BIG NEWS!
Baby #2 is on the way!! For those of you that haven't heard yet I know this is shocking! We were a bit surprised as well but now we can't imagine it any other way. James has been such an amazing blessing in our lives and from the moment he was born I said I would do it all again in a heartbeat - well not quite a heartbeat but 12 short months after we welcomed baby James into the world we will be welcoming his baby brother or sister! Baby #2's due date is August 14th which is 3 days after James' 1st birthday - the doctor says that I will most likely be a little early since they are so close together, so there is a strong possibility we will have 2 under the age of 1 for a brief time! (Those closest to me now refer to me as BritBrit (aka Britney Spears) whose boys are 2 days shy of being exactly 1 year apart! We're just praying I don't end up in the salon shaving my head while the paparazzi take pics! honestly, God help her-)
Anyhoo - so the Allen family is growing again. It's crazy how so much can change in 18 months! This time last year I was working at Regions and Jeremy was still at Donohoo with one baby on the way and now I'm a stay at home mommy (which I am sooo thankful for!) and Jeremy is recruiting from out of the house with baby #2 on the way! We can just see God's hand at work in so many ways and we are truly so blessed and thankful for everything.
Here is a pic from our first ultrasound. For those of you that have never had a baby this won't look like much because it's just a still shot but when you see it live you are able to clearly see the baby's heartbeat and it is truly the most amazing thing. It's one thing to have a positive pregnancy test and know that you're pregnant, but it makes it so real when you get to see that little heartbeat inside of you and see that baby that is growing! AMAZING!
The grandma's will probably appreciate this most:
The baby is marked off on the bottom of the picture - He/She is 8 weeks and 4 days here-
We covet all of your prayers as we go through this next season of our lives!

New milestones-
James is almost 5 months old! I look back at him as a newborn and can't believe it's been 5 months! It goes by so fast.
In the past several weeks James has hit lots of milestones. One, he's eating baby food. I was going to wait until he was closer to six months but he started waking up at 4 and 5 a.m which he hasn't done in months and I had to do something about it! The baby food twice a day has done the trick. So far we've had green beans, carrots, and sweet potatoes and surprise, surprise - he's a good eater! He's an Allen for sure! Sometimes we can't get the food in his mouth fast enough and he lets us know it! I've also started making some of his baby food. So far all I've tried is the sweet potatoes and he seems to like them. Jeremy tasted them and said they're yummy! :) It's really easier than I thought it would be.
He's also started really rolling - from front to back and back to front. I'll lay him down and turn around and he's rolled across the room. He is trying sooo hard to crawl. When he's on his tummy he looks like a fish trying to move as hard as he can. Pretty soon he's going to figure out all he has to do is pull up a bit and get his legs under him for a push and he's going to be gone!
James love, love, loves his Bouncy seat. He's just now really understands how to make it jump - for the longest he would just swing in it and spin around, but I think he loves the independence. He'll just look at me and give me this grin, like -"look what I'm doing mom!"
He's also been on this kick of blowing bubbles. He'll put his lips together and blow as hard as he can - it's cute except when I'm feeding him :(
Here are some pics:
The "blowing bubbles" face!
We now have a thumb sucker - which I don't love, but he only does it when he's tired and he now can put himself to sleep instead of me having to put his pacifier in for him-
Eating sweet potatoes with daddy -
We had friends over for Jeremy's 31st birthday and the Benedicts brought baby Zack - he's a couple months younger than James so he wasn't sure about it all. James was talking (or yelling) up a storm to Zack and had the need to touch him - we think this must be is love language!
Sweet baby playing in his Christmas present from Papa Allen
Here he is in the bouncy seat - too much fun! James is also trying to cut his first tooth so everything goes in his mouth - he loves to lay back and eat the rope on his swing. He's not able to totally sit up on his own yet but he does good when he's able to lean over a little bit. We just have to stay close because too much to the left or the right and he's down!
James has become very fascinated with Charlie but Charlie is still a little weary. James has grabbed a chunk of his fur a time or two and Charlie doesn't get upset but he tries to keep his distance if he can help it - Here James it trying to roll his way to Charlie but as soon as he would get close, Charlie would move a little farther away from him - I hope they will be great friends one day!
